WHO ARE WE?

The theatre program at Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, Georgia, is a vibrant component of the school’s Fine Arts Department, offering students a comprehensive experience in the performing arts. The program encompasses both curricular and co-curricular activities, allowing students to engage in various aspects of theatre production, including acting, directing, technical design, and stage management. Recent Productions and Achievements Alpharetta High School’s theatre department has a history of staging notable productions that have gained recognition. In March 2025, the department presented The Drowsy Chaperone, showcasing the talents of its student performers and technical crew. 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Alpharetta High School Theatre, often referred to as Alpha Theatre, is known for its high-quality productions, professional-level technical work, and strong sense of community. The program stages multiple shows throughout the year—including musicals, plays, student-directed productions, and special events like cabarets or murder mystery nights.

In addition to performance opportunities, students can engage in:
Technical Theatre – set building, lighting, sound, costumes, and stage management

Acting & Directing – through classes and extracurricular productions

Competitions & Festivals – including the GHSA one act competition, Region 6-7A GHSA Literary and the Shuler Hensley Awards

Workshops – with industry professionals and alumni The program also encourages leadership through the International Thespian Society, giving students the chance to earn recognition, scholarships, and leadership roles.



How to Join: Joining the theatre program at Alpharetta High School is easy and inclusive: ENROLL IN A THEATRE CLASS we strongly recommend taking a language over the summer to open your schedule. Courses range from fundamentals of Theatre to Musical theatre to Acting, Advanced Drama and Technical Theatre.

Audition for Productions – Auditions are open to all students and announced via school communications, instagram and alphathetare.com

Volunteer or Join Crew – No audition needed! You can sign up to work backstage, build sets, run tech, or help with costumes and by doing so you can earn community service hours!

Attend Meetings – The Alpha Theatre department holds meetings and events throughout the year where students can connect and get involved.
